Malayalam TV Series: Badai Bungalow on Asianet

Badai Bungalow on Asianet

I recently happen to come across a TV show on YouTube called Badai Bungalow from Asianet.  Watched one episode of it and I was hooked. Although it is very tough to put this show into a certain category, the best I can do is that:
Badai Bungalow is a cross between Stand Up Comedy, Situation Comedy and a Talk Show.

The show is created by the makers of Cinemala and is hosted by Malayalam Movie Star Mukesh and Actor/Comedian Ramesh Pisharody.  The premise of the show is set up as events that take place at the Badai Bungalow, which is rented from owner Mukesh by Ramesh Pisharody and his wife.

Each show revolves around a set of guests (Actors, Directors etc.) who is pretty much there to promote there new movies.  The discussions with the guests are complemented by some skits that incorporate the actors as well as some characters portrayed by the Badai Bungalow Crew/Team.  All that being said, the show is really held together by the improvisation capabilities of Mukesh & Ramesh Pisharody.

All in all it's a well put together TV show that keeps the viewers engaged and interested.

Don't know if all the episodes are available on YouTube, but I have been able to find plenty to keep me busy.

Malayalam Movie Review - Drishyam (Rating 4.5/5 Star)

Drishyam Main Poster

One of the best Malayalam moves EVER !!!

Summary:

Mohanlal in Drishyam
I know the movie has been out for some time, and you would think for a movie that I consider to be one of the best, why did I wait for so long to write a review?  Few reasons: I was doing some traveling so didn't get to see the movie till about a month after release.  Once I did see the movie, I was just so impressed that I wanted to make sure I do justice to the movie in the review.  Well I have come to the realization that it would just be wrong to wait any longer, because it's just that GOOD.

Although I watched the movie a month after it's release in Kottayam, it was still tough to get tickets to a showing.  People are loving this movie.

If you only watch one Malayalam movie in 2014, it has to be Drishyam (I guess I am assuming that, no other movie will top it in 2014).

Jeethu Joseph - Drishyam
The best aspect of the movie Drishyam is how well it's constructed in every aspect.  Strong Cast, Strong Acting, Superb story, Excellent direction and the list just keeps going on.  The fact that the movie is breaking all sort of records in the Malayalam Film Industry is no surprise if you have seen Drishyam.  The directory of Memories, Jeethu Joseph, wrote and directed Drishyam.

Jeethu Joseph is a genius.  If you have not seen Memories, it's another must watch.

Meena - Drishyam
I usually go into a Malayalam movie expecting there to be holes in the story or for the story to take a route that makes no sense just to take the story to it's climax.  Drishyam is different in that, it has no holes.  There is a reason and an explanation for everything in the film.  A brilliant mind, came up with this.

The casting of Mohanlal was perfect.  I have read stories stating that Drishyam was supposed to be made with Mammootty.  I am glad it was made with Mohanlal, as the role of Georgekutty was perfect role for him (not a knock on Mammootty).  An actor as talented as Mohanlal needs to be this picky with the films he associates with in my opinion.  Forget quantity and go for the quality!!!

Be prepared to be on the edge of your seats for 3/4th of the movie.

Notes:
Kalabhavan Shajon in Drishyam
- The supporting cast of Meena and the two children did an excellent job
- Kalabhavan Shajon, who we normally see in Comedy Roles was excellent as the negative character
